Meet Dr. Perkins Jr.

I was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo. I am the eldest of 5 children and became a leader from an early age. Growing up, I loved science and helping others and in high school decided I wanted to become a physician. After high school, I attended DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, majoring in biology. After graduating, I attended the historic Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN which is well-known for training high-quality primary care physicians. While shadowing primary care physicians in the Nashville community, I loved the relationships they had forged with their patients in the office setting and I too fell in love with primary care. I completed my dual internal medicine and pediatrics training at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center- Memphis and became board-certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics in the years that followed. My first job was as an employed physician for a large corporation in Selmer, TN where I practiced what would be considered traditional primary care; taking care of patients in the clinic, nursery, hospital wards, and the ER settings. Though successful, I longed to practice medicine where success was measured in lives changed, not how many people were crammed into the schedule. After I lost my job due to hospital closure in 2016, I decided to work towards opening my own solo practice. I am excited to finally do what God has called me to do. I look forward to coming back to the community I call home and partnering with you to provide all your primary care needs.

I have two beautiful daughters, Eden and Micah. Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my family, learning about history and politics, listening to gospel music, working out, and cooking.
